Marilyn Janette Gervenak, age 73, of Fremont passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Spectrum Health – Blodgett Campus in Grand Rapids. Marilyn was born on August 10, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois to Charles Marion and Vera LoDeima (Mason) Spencer. Marilyn married John David Mottashed in 1964, and later married Daniel John Gervenak on June 15, 1991. Marilyn graduated from Grand Rapids Central in 1962. She worked at the County Extension Office in Fremont and later, after raising her sons, worked as an agent for Gerber Life Insurance. Some of her favorite hobbies were golfing, playing cards, volunteering at Gerber Hospital (HAGS), being an aerobics instructor, watching soap operas and NASCAR, and being devoted to all of her family, as well as the many cats throughout the years, especially Sophia who was her constant companion these last few years of her life. Marilyn is survived by her children, Charles Gordon (Sarah) Mottashed, Greg Brent Mottashed, Ryan Richard Gervenak, Amy Jo Gervenak, Jessica Ann (Erica) Gervenak-Tascott, and Zachary Michael Gervenak; grandchildren, Alec Nathaniel Mottashed, Andrew Keegan Mottashed, Atticus Dylan Smith, and Zachary Michael Gervenak; and brother, James Charles (Dinah) Spencer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel John Gervenak. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Marilyn at 11 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at the Fremont United Methodist Church with Pastor Julie Fairchild officiating. There will be a time of visitation to meet with the family at the Church starting at 10 AM prior to the service. Friends may share memories with the Marilyn's family online at www.crandellfh.com.
