Marilyn Joan Spaulding, aged 89, of Newaygo passed away on October 14, 2024, in Hesperia, Michigan. Marilyn was born on July 4, 1935, to Clayton and Maxine (Blough) Bobel and married Frank (Bud) Spaulding on May 7, 1955. Marilyn dedicated her life to nurturing and caring for others, notably as a homemaker and childcare provider to Kate, Jacob, and Patrick Butters, who she lovingly considered her own grandchildren.

Marilyn found solace and community at the Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ. Her faith and the fellowship from her many friends there were central to her life.

She was a nature enthusiast who cherished the outdoors, whether it was camping in Michigan state parks, feeding and bird watching, or simply enjoying the greenery. Marilyn was also a skilled baker known for her delicious pies and enjoyed assembling puzzles. Her lifelong passion for and attending county fairs stemmed from her active involvement in 4-H in her youth.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter Holly Spaulding of Hesperia, Michigan, and son Jonathan Spaulding of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank (Bud) Spaulding, daughter Debra Spaulding, and sister Anita Frase.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at noon, with visitation from 10 AM to 12 PM. Those wishing to honor Marilyn's memory may make contributions to the Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ or True North. Her love, warmth, and the joy she brought to every life she touched will be deeply missed.
