Marion I. VanLue, age 81 of Holton, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Marion was born on April 9, 1936 in Cedar Creek Township to Earl and Lula (Syers) Marshall and graduated from Holton High School. Marion later graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree and became a teacher at the Holton Public Schools for 58 years until her retirement in 1994. Marion met and married Wayne VanLue on July 20, 1957 in Holton and Wayne preceded her in death on January 2, 1999. Marion was a member of the Michigan Educational Association, National Education Association and the Michigan Retired Teachers Association. Marion had enjoyed deer hunting, gaming, traveling, crocheting, sewing, gardening, painting on saw blades and ceramics and painting. Marion truly enjoyed teaching 6th grade.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Lula "LuAnn" Johnston of Holton; her sister, Gladys Bayne of Twin Lake; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Marshall of Holton; several nieces and nephews. Marion was preceded in death by her sisters Audrey Norton and Ruth Survill and her brothers, Roy Marshall, Homer Marshall, and Raymond Marshall.

VISITATION : Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel and Wednesday 12-1pm at the funeral home. FUNERAL SERVICES Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Oakwood Cemetery in Holton.
