Marjorie Ann "Margie" Phillips, age 60 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Marjorie was born on July 12, 1948 in Georgia to Leonard H. and Willie (Huitt) Hawkins and grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan. Marjorie moved to Fremont from Wyandotte in 1971 and worked as a medical underwriter for the Gerber Life Insurance Company in Fremont for the past 31 years and also currently was the co-owner of Down Under in Fremont. Marjorie was a selfless and giving person and would often go without herself to help others in need. She enjoyed dancing, singing karaoke, bowled on a league for many years and had been active in cross country and endurance horseback riding for many years in the State of Michigan. Marjorie was a spiritual woman who treasured her family. She is survived by her daughters, Joanna Hagen of Fremont; Michelle Phillips of Sarasota, Florida; her grand daughter, Jacki Hagen of Fremont; her other daughter, Wendy Herrington of Cincinnati, Ohio; her mother, Willie Kitty Hawkins of Fremont; her brother, Fred (Elaine) Hawkins of Fort Myers, Florida; former husband, Rick Phillips (special friend, Vikki Bonomini) of Fremont; niece, Amanda Hawkins; nephew, Ryan Hawkins; sister-in-law, Kris (John) Tye of Wisconsin; special friend and business partner, Marilyn Heringa; many special friends she considered family. VISITATION : Monday 6-8pm and Tuesday 11-1pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. TIME OF CELEBRATION AND REMEMBRANCE : Tuesday at 5pm at the Fremont Moose Lodge.
