Obituary

Mark Deveron Bryant, 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep with family by his side on October 26, 2026, following a courageous five-year battle with cancer. Born on December 15, 1963, to George and June (Rosema) Bryant, he grew up in Muskegon, Michigan, and attended Orchard View High School.

Family and friends were very important to Mark. He shared 43 years of marriage with his high school sweetheart, Sherry, and was a devoted father to their three girls. He coached his daughters in softball and later ran the Oakridge Summer Softball league, extending his involvement to the wider community. He also played an active role in their school, spending a few years as the eagle mascot at Oakridge High School football games. From the softball field to school events, Mark found many ways to support his family and community.

Mark’s working life began at a full-service gas station. He later ran the small engine garage at Quality Farm & Fleet before joining Meridian, which became Herman Miller and then Miller Knoll. He retired after 36 years with the company, having formed lasting friendships with coworkers who became like family and always looked forward to his “Friday Funnies”.

Outside of work, Mark’s love of music led him to the local bar scene, where he did sound for bands such as Yardsale Underwear, Product of Society, 8th and Amsterdam, Unleashed, and Plan B. He also enjoyed working on cars and small engines, using his practical skills to lend others a hand. His helpful spirit, community involvement, and many interests made him uniquely Mark and will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

Mark is survived by his wife, Sherry Kay Bryant (Pape); his daughters, Tiffany (Benjamin) VanderMolen and Amanda Bryant; his grandchildren, William Miller IV, Deveron VanderMolen, Karlie Miller, Koen Jett, and Kylee Jett; and his great-grandson, Allias Woodman. He also leaves behind Howard (Beverly) Bryant, Daryl Bryant, Cynthia (Seibert) Hines, Mary (John Sellinger) Wilson, and Sue Bryant, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and his grand-pups Rhyolite and Syenite.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Krista Mills; his sister, Pamela Dake; his brothers, Thomas Darrell Bryant and George “Butch” Ray Eely II; and his parents, George and June (Rosema) Bryant.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Mark’s incredible hospice care team—Cindy, Christine, Nicole, Beth, Monica, Emily, and Sharon—whose compassionate care and support meant so much to Mark and his family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Harbor Hospice.
