Obituary

Mark James Stitt, age 59 of Hesperia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 27, 2019 in Midland, Michigan. Mark was born on December 2, 1959 in South Bend, Indiana to James Patrick "Pat" and Olivia Mary (Rock) Stitt and later graduated from Evart High School in 1978. After graduation, Mark joined the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge. Mark married the love of his life, Janet Crow on March 24, 1984 in Evart and has been a longtime resident of the Hesperia area. Mark was a 3rd Generation Barnwright and followed his father and grandfather's footsteps into the barn restoration business and was the founder, owner and operator of Stitt Barn Preservation in Hesperia. Mark enjoyed building, spending time with friends at gatherings, campfires, golfing but especially treasured the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and family. Mark was an active member of the Dayton Center Wesleyan Church and had been involved with the District ministry, Sunday school, song leader and held his faith in high standards. Mark gave his life to the Lord Jesus in 1989 and has followed Him since. He loved to read his Bible, studying in God's Word and in praising his Lord with song, service and testimony. Mark's life was an incredible witness to God. He impacted everyone that knew him. He was a strong prayer warrior and was someone that everyone went to for sound guidance and advice. He was a leader and solid rock to all of his family. Mark is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Janet of Hesperia; his children and grandchildren - Matt (Alisha) Stitt and their children, Luke and Hallie of Fremont; Meghan (Doug) Beck and their children, Wyatt and Owen of Lima, Ohio; Beth (Nathan) Schafer and their daughter, Clara of New Castle, Pennsylvania; Bruce (Lindsy) Stitt and their children, Jaden and Nevarra of Fremont; Tyler Stitt of Hesperia; his sisters and brothers, Julia (Chris) Millard of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lynnette (Dean) Hintz of Harrison, Michigan; Sonja (Morris) Bishop of Cedar Springs; Wesley Stitt of Evart; Daryl (Cindy) Stitt of Sears, Michigan; Anthony (Michelle) Stitt of Indianapolis, Indiana; his parents, Pat and Olivia Stitt of Fremont; his father-in-law, Richard Crow of Hesperia; special friends, Ed & Lorraine Givens of Hesperia; several nieces & nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Cora Sue Crow. VISITATION : Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 4-7pm at the Fremont Wesleyan Church 918 Garden Avenue Fremont MI 49412 and Wednesday, July 3, 2019 from 10-11am at the Fremont Wesleyan Church. FUNERAL SERVICES : Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11am at the Fremont Wesleyan Church with Pastor Terry Hansen of the Dayton Center Wesleyan Church presiding. INTERMENT : West Hesperia Cemetery.
