Marlene Lorraine Reed, age 76 of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids following her declining health. Marlene was born on May 17, 1944 in Fremont to Lyle Ellsworth and Joyce Lorraine (Devold) Slocum and graduated from Hesperia High School. Marlene later married Kenneth Reed in 1972 in Hesperia and Kenneth preceded her in death on July 19, 1996. Marlene has been a lifelong resident of the Hesperia and White Cloud area where she had been a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and houseplants, riding her bicycle, fishing and cutting wood with Ken, camping, drawing, taking photographs and reminiscing with family, gathering at the family reunions and collecting family keepsakes. Marlene is survived by her daughter, Donna Mae (Bruce) LaMay of Grand Haven; her granddaughter, Kendra Sue Reed-LaMay; her great grandson, Gabriel LaMay; her brother, Bill Slocum of Holton; her mother-in-law, Vera Bray of Grand Haven. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Reed; her daughter, Joyce Lorraine Reed; her parents, Lyle and Joyce Slocum; and her sister, Doris Walton. GRAVESIDE SERVICES will be held at the East Hesperia Cemetery in Hesperia next to her husband, Ken and her daughter, Joyce.
