Marshall F. Kiester, age 86 of Fremont, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at his home following a short illness. Marshall was born on May 16, 1930 in Big Prairie Township to Frank and Zelpha (Ragains) Kiester and has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area. Marshall joined the United States Army after his graduation where he served during the Korean War until his discharge and return to the area. Marshall started work at General Motors where he had been a tool and die technician and for 17 years until his retirement from General Motors. After retirement, Marshall started a dairy farm on south Green Avenue in Fremont until he eventually retired from farming but continued to live on the farm until his passing. Marshall was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and ice fishing; watching wildlife on his property, cutting wood and spending time in the woods, traveling around the United States and always had a large flower and vegetable garden.

Marshall is survived by his children, Bill (Betty Ann) Kiester of Fremont; Mike (Diane) Kiester of Fremont; Greg Kiester of Fremont; Tim Kiester of Berrien Springs; Mark (Tina) Kiester of Newaygo; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; his sisters and brother, Dixie (Russ) Boeskool of Fremont; Dennis (Kathy Fuller) Kiester of West Olive; Mary Larson of Panama City, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Marshall was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn on January 26, 2016 and by his son, Robert Kiester on May 31, 2016.

VISITATION : Monday, November 14, 2016 from 4-7pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES with MILITARY RITES : Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Spectrum Health Hospice.
