Martha Roland, age 84 of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2000 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. She was born on April 24, 2000 in Red Grass, Mississippi to George and Sally (Roseman) Sherley and was the 15th of 18 children. She married Coleman Roland in 1937. Coleman preceded her in death on December 10, 1964. She has been a resident of the White Cloud area since 1959 and had been active in the foster grandparent program. She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and longtime member of the Peoples Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Sylvia Pittman-Hand & husband, Ronald Hand of White Cloud; Roosevelt Roland of Little Rock, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, Axzabain Pittman; Erica Pittman; Ronald Roland; Kenneth Roland; 12 great grandchildren; host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 3, 2000 from the Peoples Baptist Church in White Cloud with Pastor Elder Jeff Murchison presiding with Rev. Michael Sanders officiating.
