Martin J. "Jay" Thompson Sr., age 84 of White Cloud, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jay was born on October 28, 1936 in White Cloud to Norman M. and Alvina Stella (Allers) Thompson and graduated from White Cloud High School in 1955. Jay married Barbara Allers on September 22, 1956 in White Cloud and they have been residents of the White Cloud area their entire life. Jay had worked as a Michigan State Police Officer and later owned and operated Mid State Utilities for 15 years until his retirement in 2000. Jay enjoyed being in the Michigan outdoors especially on his 4 wheeler with a chain saw on the back cutting wood. He had enjoyed hunting and fishing and had enjoyed traveling following retirement. Jay is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara of White Cloud; his daughters, Pamela White of Kalamazoo; Deborah Genther of White Cloud; his son, Martin (Nancy) Thompson Jr. of White Cloud; 15 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his sisters, Loretta Olesczcuk of Spring Lake; Jean Hecksel of Spring Lake; his brothers, Dan Thompson of Florida; Glen (Molly) Thompson of White Cloud; Gordon (Diane) Thompson of White Cloud; several nieces and nephews. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Alvina; his sisters, Beatrice, Hazel, Eleanore, Elsie and Lois and by his brother, Norman Jr. VISITATION : Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel 1109 Court Street White Cloud MI 49349.
