MarvinMarvin E. Klassen, age 88 of Muskegon, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, December 5, 2004 at the North Ottawa Community Hospital in Grand Haven. Marv was born on June 11, 1916 in Holland to Peter and Anna (Brinkhuis) Klassen and later moved to Fremont with his family where he graduated from Fremont High School He later graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1939 and moved back to Muskegon after graduation. He met Barbara J. Haines and they were married on March 22, 1946 in Muskegon. Barbara preceded him in death on March 16, 1994. Marv had worked at the Lee Funeral Home in Muskegon Heights for many years until his retirement and was awarded a 60 year Licensee Award by the Michigan Funeral Directors Association in April 2001 . He was a member of the Grace Christian Reformed Church where he had served on the council and was a former member of the Muskegon Heights Kiwanis Club. He is survived by his sons, Dale F. (Patsy) Klassen of Ann Arbor; Paul R. (Sally) Klassen of Norton Shores; his daughters, Marva J. (Richard) Tyler of Norton Shores; Marilyn J. Gardner of Canton, Michigan; his grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) Taylor; Wesley (Heather) Klassen; Peter, Kevin, and Philip Klassen; Annette (Mike) Conn; Molly and Gregory Tyler; Wendy (Josh) Bonno; Nathan Gardner; his great grandchildren, Caleb Bonno and Isabelle Conn; his brother, Andrew P. (Dorothy) Klassen of Fremont; his sisters, Frances Bultman of Fremont; Lucille (J.B.) Poll of Fremont; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna Klassen; three sisters, Nella Witte, Margaret Pell, and Cornelia Luchies. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Rev. presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
