Mary Lou Cook age 71 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her home following a lingering illness. Mary was born on July 8, 1944 in Grand Haven to Robert and Pearl (Hitsman) Platt and graduated from Grand Haven High School. Mary met Raymond Rex Cook in 1965 and they were married on April 16, 1966 and have been married for 50 years. Mary received her LPN degree from Muskegon Community College and had worked at Mercy Hospital as well as several other nursing homes until her retirement in 1992. Mary enjoyed reading, yard sales, puzzles, traveling to Florida for the winter months and vacationing in the Upper Peninsula. Mary is survived by her husband, Raymond Rex Cook of Fremont; her children; Louanne (Bill) Purdy of Fremont; Chris (Sara) Cook of Fremont; Robert Cook of Fremont; her grandchildren, Ayrianna Cook; Hunter and Dylan Cook; Matt Ackerman; Brianna Cook; one great grandchild, Jacob Ackerman; her dearest and closest friends, Ester Wolcott, Joann Leon and Karen Banninga. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pearl Platt and her brothers, Howard and Robert Platt. FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, April 4, 2016 at 1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Lincoln Township Cemetery.
