Mary A. Dean, age 90 of Fremont, formerly of Diamond Lake and Kentwood, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Mary was born on March 17, 1929 in Milan, Michigan to Parker and Daisy (Finch) Murray and later married Roy Dean on July 4, 1952 in Grand Rapids. Roy preceded her in death on October 31, 2015. Mary had been a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years at St. Mary's Hospital and Butterworth Hospital and later at a nursing home and home health aide until her retirement. Mary and Roy moved to the Diamond Lake area after retirement and in 1997 moved to Fremont. Mary attended the First Baptist Church in Fremont and enjoyed knitting where she had knit over 1000 hats for children in missions and hospitals. Mary also enjoyed gardening, being in the sunshine, had been active in AWANA and school activities in her younger years and throughout her lifetime was always taking care of people. Mary is survived by her children, James (Tracy) Dean of Grand Rapids; David (Cindy) Dean of Conklin; Susan (Dennis) Gort of Fremont; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her sisters, Jess Seven of Grand Rapids; Patricia Mangan of South Lyon; her brother, Earl (Norma) Murray of Leslie, Michigan; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Louis (May) Murray; brother-in-laws, Charles Seven and Jan Mangan. MEMORIAL SERVICES : Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 11am at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Summerfield presiding. INTERMENT : Lincoln Township Cemetery near White Cloud.
