Obituary

Mary Amanda Follett, age 78, of Holton went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Mary was born on March 7, 1939, in Holton, to Roch George and Georgia Fay (Hysell) Dore and married Vern E. Follett on November 4, 1967 in Holton. Mary retired from the Michigan Employment Securities Commission (MESC) and was an active Shaklee independent distributor. She was a proud graduate of Fremont High School, class of 1957. Mary was the 1957 Muskegon County Dairy Queen. In 1971, Mary organized the first employment service office in Newaygo County, starting in the Civil Defense Room in White Cloud. It grew so fast, it moved to Main St. in Fremont. Many knew Mary as a dedicated and hard-worker. She has received recognition from many organizations, including Ferris State College, Jordan College, Michigan State University, State of Michigan D.O.L, Newaygo County Community Services, and US Department of Agriculture. Mary has been Shaklee Sales leader, achieving #1 in the region. In 1982, she received recognition from the United States Senate on her promotion to Shaklee Supervisor. She enjoyed attending car shows with her best friend Butch, traveling, as well as spending time with her family and friends. Mary was an amazing woman of God and had strong faith. She was a devoted member of the Holton United Methodist Church and the DeColores Ministries. Her grandchildren will tell you she makes the best pancakes and chocolate chip cookies in the world. She blessed many with her award-winning, homemade apple dumplings.
