Mary C. Kanters, age 83 of White Cloud, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the St. Marys Hospital in Grand Rapids. Mary was born on June 14, 1926 in Detroit. Mary married Frank Scarcella and her preceded her in death. She later married Peter H. Kanters on May 15, 1958 in Detroit and Peter preceded her in death on October 9, 1997. Mary had been a production worker and had worked at Pete Morris Bar on the weekends and later became a homemaker and moved to the White Cloud area in 1983 from St. Clair Shores. Mary enjoyed gardening and her flowers, feeding and watching the birds, collecting owl figurines, listening to wind chimes, and in her younger years enjoyed roller skating and dancing. Mary always looked forward to the hunting season when the hunters would come to her house. Mary especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Joyce (Tom) Kraehling of Lakeport, Michigan; Peter H. (Corby) Kanters of Detroit; Sandra (Jeff) Kanters of Lowell; 7 grandchildren, Raymond, Kristin, Justin, Peter, Alyssa, Cody, Micaela; 5 great grandchildren, Tyler, Ian, Logan, Lauren, Emma; her nephews, Joe Lentine and Roy Lentine of Algonac, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Kanters ODell and by her brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Enice Lentine. VISITATION : Saturday, August 1, 2009 from 11-2pm at Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel.
