Mary Ann Koster, age 83 of Rockford, formerly of Fremont and Cedar Springs, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Bishop Hills Elder Care Community in Rockford. Mary Ann was born on April 25, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Mary (Ronan) Piklor and later married John Louis Lou Koster on September 22, 1951 in Chicago. Lou preceded her in death on June 15, 2000. Mary and Lou moved to the Fremont area in 1967 from Chicago and later Mary moved to the Cedar Springs/Rockford area in 2006. Mary had been a secretary in the Foremans office at Gerber Products Company for 17 years until her retirement in 1990. Mary enjoyed sewing, cross stitch and quilting for hospice patients, was a volunteer for several organizations throughout the years including volunteering at the Cedar Springs Library and serving with the Foster Grandparents program in Newaygo County. Mary was an avid reader and treasured the time she spent babysitting her grand babies. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Bishop Hills Elder Care Community and Spectrum Health Hospice for the care given to Mary. Mary is survived by her children, Kenneth (Barb) Koster of Mt. Clemens; Kathy Borkowski of Rockford; Clare Parks of Rockford; her grandchildren, Darlene Borkowski; Michael (Allison) Borkowski; Tom (Jessie) Borkowski; Diane (Nate) Smith; Sam Parks; Leslie Parks; her great grandchildren, Elizabeth Deur; Lauren Deur; Tyler Smith; Lilley Smith; Aubrey Smith; Madelyn Smith; Zachary Smith; Emma Borkowski; River Borkowski; Violet Borkowski. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Shephard. VISITATION : Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 2-3pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel (7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI) with MEMORIAL SERVICES at 3pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Fremont. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS please consider Cedar Springs Library Building Fund.
