Throughout her life, Mary wore many hats with grace and determination. She began her career as a beautician, delighting in doing hair for the ladies in her neighborhood—a role that allowed her to share not only her talent but also her warmth and companionship. Later, she worked as a baker at Wesco in Cloverville, Michigan, where she became known for her comforting presence and delicious treats. Her commitment to helping others extended into education when she served as a paraprofessional at Beach Elementary in Cloverville. She also managed the Cloverville laundromat with care and diligence.
Mary's creativity shone through in everything she did. She had a passion for ceramics and created many beautiful pieces that now serve as cherished keepsakes for her family. An avid reader, she especially loved the "Little House on the Prairie" series, finding joy and inspiration in its stories of perseverance and home life. Her green thumb brought beauty to every garden she tended, while her crochet work added warmth to countless homes.
A master of comfort food, Mary was best known for her famous wacky cake—a treat that brought smiles to many gatherings—and for always having something warm on the stove or fresh from the oven. She was also an enthusiastic coupon clipper who took pride in stretching every dollar with skillful precision.
Mary found peace watching birds at her feeder and joy in giving freely of herself to others. Whether offering a helping hand or sharing a kind word, she made everyone feel welcome and cared for.
A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held at a later date.
