Mary J. Wolever, age 48 of Newaygo, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following a long battle with cancer. Mary was born on December 30, 1960 in Grand Rapids to James and Alice (Ritzema) Willingham and has been a longtime resident of the White Cloud and Newaygo area. She had worked at McDonalds Restaurant in Grand Rapids for several years and for the past 10 years enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren. Mary married Frank Wolever on March 4, 1989 in Grand Rapids. Mary enjoyed sewing and knitting but found the most enjoyment spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband, Frank of Newaygo; her children, Emma Lambert of Hawaii; Richard Roe of Baldwin; Thomas Wolever (fianc, Kristie Weatherall) of Newaygo; John (Elizabeth Wolever of Grand Rapids; Donna Wolever (fianc, Allen Kibbey) of White Cloud; Andrea (Leandro) Chavez of Grant; 17 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; her mother, Alice Lightfoot of Newaygo; her sister, Theresa (Andy) Kauffman of Belding; brothers, Tom Willingham of Grand Rapids; Kenny (Bonnie) Willingham of Woodville; Allen (Kelly) Willingham of Wayland; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James Willingham. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 2pm at the Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsmans Post Memorial Hall following cremation.
