Marywin I. (Carrier) Fotis, age 91 of Fremont, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Fremont. Marywin was born on January 30, 1930 in Muskegon to August and Ebba (Peterson) Kapphahn. Mary married James Carrier in May 1951 and he preceded her in death on November 22, 1975. She later met and married Frank Fotis and he preceded her in death. Marywin earned her Registered Nursing degree and worked in pediatrics at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon for several years and later retired from the Meadows Nursing Center in Fremont. Marywin had a strong faith and had been active in her church in her younger years and spent summers in India with mission groups volunteering. She was an artist as well and made porcelain dolls from start to finish with molding, painting, clothing and also had decorated Plumbs in Muskegon for many years. Marywin is survived by her children, Sue Stroven of Fremont; Linda Schilhaneck of Newaygo; Mark (Jonie) Carrier of Traverse City; Daniel (Elaine) Carrier of Front Royal, Virginia; 11 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; her sister, Carol Adams of Little Rock, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald, Ray, and Erwin Kapphahn; and by her son-in-law, Craig Schilhaneck. VISITATION : Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 10-11am at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W. 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 with FUNERAL SERVICES at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home.
