Obituary

Matthew David Hite, age 36 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at his home. Matthew was born on May 8, 1981 in Mt. Pleasant to Samuel D. and Cynthia J. (Neibarger) and Hite and graduated from Fremont High School in 2000. Matthew has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area and had worked as a customer service representative for several years. Matthew enjoyed reading all types of books, was always eager to gather new knowledge, playing video games, but especially treasured the time he spent with his son, Cadel. Matthew is survived by his son, Cadel Melbourne Hite of Fremont; his mother and stepfather, Cindy (Ron "Doc") Maike of Fremont; his father, Samuel D. Hite of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; former wife, Jackie Hite of Fremont; maternal grandmother, Sandy Neibarger of Fremont; half sister, Paige Wilson of Missouri; half brother, John Hite of Missouri; aunts, Nancy Pell of Fremont; Joddie (Bruce) Crawford of Fremont; Jeannie Causey of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Kimberly Kerr of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; special great aunt, Joan (Don) Curtice of Fremont; uncle, Gene Schotanus of White Cloud; several cousins; special friend, Megan Bolich and her son, Sirius; step grandparents, James and Karen Maike of White Cloud. Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Pete Neibarger; maternal great grandparents, Melbourne and Hilda Schotanus; paternal great grandmother, Gloria "Nana" Cronan; his aunt, Lee Smith; his cousin, Nicole Neibarger; great cousin, Raelynn Crawford. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 3:30pm at the Church of the Living Christ 605 Hemlock Fremont MI 49412. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Cadel M. Hite Education Scholarship Fund, checks payable to Crandell Funeral Home.
