Matthew LeRoy Murphy, age 33 of Fremont/Holton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 11, 2023 at his home. Matt was born on August 31, 1989 in Muskegon to David and Kristi (Fuller) Murphy and graduated from Fremont High School in 2007. Matt later attended and graduated from Lincoln College of Technology in Indianapolis with his Associates Degree in Automotive Mechanics. Matt has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his friends around a campfire, was an avid University of Michigan Fan and was a devoted Detroit Lions fan. Matt had a generous heart for his family and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need at any time. For Matt, life was sometimes hard but his family finds great comfort in knowing he is now with his brother, Jon and his best friend Cody again. When you think of Matt, take a little time to smile and fist bump the sky as Matt would always do. Matt is survived by his parents, Dave and Kris Murphy; paternal grandparents, Emogene Murphy of Fremont; William (Tamara) Murphy of Fremont; special friend, Apryl and her son, Zayne of Muskegon; uncles and aunt, Mike (Barbara) Fuller; Jeff (Corine) Murphy; Darlene Murphy (Steve); his cousins, Lisa, Cassie, Brandon, Hailey, Seth, Heather, and Dani; and his dog, Captain. Matt was preceded in death by his brother, Jon Murphy; maternal grandparents, LeRoy and Bette Fuller.
