Maxine L. DeKryger, age 77 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 surrounded by her family at her home. Maxine was born on April 2, 1943 in Muskegon to Herm and Jo (Muerer) Postmus and graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School. Maxine later married Peter James "Jim" DeKryger Jr. on January 4, 1964 in Muskegon and moved to Fremont that year. Maxine was a member of the Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Fremont and had been a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed camping, traveling to warmer climates in the winter months, and attending her grandchildren's activities and functions. Maxine is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim of Fremont; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren – son, Pete (Norma) DeKryger of Fremont and their children and grandchildren – granddaughter, Carley, grandson, Peter (Chelsea) and their children, Jack and Magnolia, grandson, Ethan; son, Sheldon (Lisa) DeKryger of Wyoming, Michigan and their children, grandson, Robert (Mackenzie), granddaughter, Amanda (Casey), grandson, Daniel; son, Derek (Rosanne) DeKryger of Fremont and their children, grandson, Russell (Anna) and their daughter, Neveah, granddaughter, Brianna (Dave), granddaughter, Dayna Simone; daughter, Ericia (Troy) Merrill of Barryton, Michigan and their son, grandson, Raymond; her brother, Robert "Bob" Postmus of Twin Lake; several nieces and nephews. Maxine was preceded in death by her brothers, Merle Postmus and Terry Postmus. Family services will be held at the Trinity Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Rev. Richard Britton III presiding. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Fremont Area Community Foundation for the Fremont Christian School or Appalachia Reach Out in memory of Maxine.
