Maxine "Mic" E. Annis, age 90 of Hesperia, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Green Acres Assisted Living Center in Fremont. Mic was born on January 8, 1933 in Denver Township to Charles and Murial Eileen (Norris) DeLong and graduated from Hesperia High School in 1951. Mic met and later married William "Bill" Annis on April 19, 1952 in Muskegon and Bill preceded her in death on October 6, 2000. Maxine had been a grocery clerk at Ed's Grocery in Hesperia for over 40 years until her retirement and was a lifelong resident of the Hesperia area. Mic was a member of the Hesperia United Methodist Church, enjoyed gardening, sewing, golfing and bowling in her younger years and helped milk cows on the family farm throughout her lifetime. Mic is survived by her children, Teresa (Phil) DeKok of Stewartville, Minnesota; Suzanne (Tom) Wise of Nelson, Nebraska; William (Lisa) Annis Jr. of Ravenna; Patricia (Kent) Klomp of Fremont; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Maat of Fremont; several nieces and nephews. Mic was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Annis; her grandson, Burton DeKok; her sisters and brothers, Marjorie DeLong, Charles Delong, Elaine Roberson, Everett DeLong, and Vionne James.
