Melbourne Robert "Bob" "Flipper" Dolphin Jr., age 94 of Newaygo passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Bob was born on July 13, 1928 in Grand Rapids to Melbourne Robert and Bernice (Grachtrup) Dolphin Sr. Bob had worked as a hi lo operator for Spartan Warehouse for 27 years until his retirement. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War until his honorable discharge. Bob met and later married Virginia (West) Graves on April 22, 1987 in Las Vegas, Nevada and has been a longtime resident of the area. Bob enjoyed going to the casino's, traveling, fishing, hunting, gardening, listening to music. Bob was always up for a tall boy at the Moe-Z-Inn in Morley and especially treasured spending time with his family – "love ya all".
Bob is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Dennis (Debbie) Dolphin; Debbie (Ray) Beye; Pat Bigorowski; Anne Dolphin; Virginia's children – Novella Johnson; Rosella DeWitte; Debbie (Dave) Wolfsen; Ross (Beth) Graves; Michelle (Rick) Davis; Mitchell (Kristin) Graves; daughter-in-law, Joan Combs; several grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Dolphin, sisters, Shirley Lappley; Dorothy Szekely; brother, Donald Dolphin; step son, Steve Combs.
Military Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 1:30pm at the White Cloud Cemetery. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Kids Free Fishing Day held every year in White Cloud.
