Melissa Dawn Edwards-Mumah, age 56 of Newaygo and Cedar Springs, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 8, 2023. Melissa was born on March 26, 1967 in Grand Rapids to Donald and Colleen (Ritsema) Edwards and graduated from Tri County High School. Melissa has been a lifelong resident of the area and was a Studio Assistant/Associate at Integrated Architecture in Grand Rapids where she has worked for the past 12 years. Melissa enjoyed singing karaoke, spending time near the water – boating, beaches and the ocean and was always willing to help others at any time. Melissa enjoyed horses and has been an animal lover her entire life. She was currently remodeling her home in Newaygo by herself and was never afraid to take on a new building project that involved a hammer or screwdriver. Melissa was an independent person that had a personality that would always light up a room. Melissa's greatest joy though was her family. She truly cherished being a Mother, Grandmother, Life Partner, Daughter, Sister and Aunt. Melissa is survived by her son, Dallas (Denise) Mumah of Howard City and their children – Connor Henry, Riley Mumah and Chevelle Mumah; her significant other, Joe Clark of Cedar Springs and his children, Kaci Clark and Nicole Clark; her mother, Colleen (Glenn) Quick of Fremont; her father, Donald (Nancy) Edwards of Fremont; her brother, Dusten Quick of Sparta; her sister, Colette (Chuck) Rogers of Reed City; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Melissa was preceded in death by her brother, Gavin Quick in 1994; her grandparents, Robert and Arlene Saum; Clarence Ritsema; Don and Cena Edwards.
