Melvin L. Shaul, age 60 of Fremont, formerly of White Cloud and Flint, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Melvin was born on June 10, 1956 in Detroit to Lavene J. and Norine May (Buchheit) Shaul and grew up in the Shelby Township Area. Melvin joined the United States Air Force where he served for 4 years and then joined the United States Army where he served an additional 2 years until his honorable discharge. Mel had worked as a maintenance technician at the American Best Value Inn in Flint for several years until his retirement and then moved to the White Cloud area. Melvin enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar, traveling in the United States, especially the Western States, hunting in his younger years and was a member of the American Legion Post #225 in Lansing.
Melvin is survived by his father Lavene Shaul of Almont, Michigan; his sister and nieces, Laurie May (David) Green of Shelby Township and nieces, Chloe Danielle Green and Brittany May Green; his sister, Leslie Ann (David) Monetta of Almont, Michigan and nieces, Ashley Lynn Berry and Chelsea Norine Nowak. Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, Norine Shaul.
