Mernard N. Tinkham Sr., age 92 of Hesperia, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his home following a short illness. Mernard was born on June 9, 1922 in Montrose, Michigan to Frank and Edith (Davis) Tinkham and later married Gladys Leona Crandall on June 26, 1948 in White Cloud. Mernard moved to the Hesperia area in 1952 from Howell and had worked at Gerber Products Company in Fremont until his retirement in 1979. Mernard had also been a bus driver at the Hesperia Public Schools for many years. After retirement, Mernard continued to be a handyman and lawn mower repairman in Hesperia for many years, enjoyed attending horse pulls, fishing and hunting, and vegetable gardening. Mernard was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army. Mernard is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys of Hesperia; his children, Lawrence (Tina) Tinkham of Hesperia; Loretta Krause of Hesperia; Mernard (Patty) Tinkham Jr. of Fremont; Randall Tinkham of Hesperia; William (Denise) Tinkham of Hesperia; Colleen (Jake) Holthues of West Yellowstone, Montana; Dwayne (Val) Tinkham of Hesperia; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters Franklin Tinkham of Hesperia; Ann Campbell of Hesperia; Mary Jane Rossman of Hesperia; Wanda (Bob) Kakoczki of White Cloud; Wilma (Bob) Ball of White Cloud; Wayne Tinkham of Hesperia; Emery (Betsy) Tinkham of Hesperia; Olive Hettmansperger of Hesperia; special friends, Randy and Karen Hren of Hesperia; several nieces and nephews. Mernard was preceded in death by his grandson, Randall Tinkham; his sister and brothers, Donna Hettmansperger; Donald, Harry, Paul, and Dan Tinkham.
