Obituary

Bell, Michael Emory Michael Emory Bell, age 54 of Fremont passed away on Wednesday at Spectrum Health Services in Grand Rapids. He was born on April 27, 1949 in Cadillac, Michigan to Emory and Margaret (Verhoeven) Bell and married Gail Coffey on August 7, 1993 in Kalamazoo. Michael graduated from Michigan State University and played in the Spartan Marching Band for 4 years and later attended Eastern Michigan University for 3 years. He had been a teacher for the past 33 years having taught in Howell, Shaiwassee, Allegan, and currently in Fremont. He was Bandmaster and Songster Leader for the Salvation Army, sang in several Madrigal Productions, sang in the Community Choir, and traveled and sang with Musical Youth International. He was also the coach for the Fremont Quiz Bowl Team and attended the Fremont United Methodist Church. Michael is survived by his loving wife Gail of Fremont; daughter, Allison Bell of Wilmington, DE; stepchildren, Patrick and Sarah Coffey; grandson Nicholas Coffey; his parents, Emory and Margaret Bell of Grand Rapids; sister Peggy (Brad) Carey of DeKalb, IL; brother George (Jennifer) Bell of Champaign, IL; 1 niece, Alexandra and 1 nephew, Christopher. He was preceded in death by 2 stepchildren Michael & Maranatha Coffey, and his grandmother, Evangeline Verhoeven. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 3m 2004 from the Fremont United Methodist Church with Rev. Lawrence Wood and Rev. Bertram Vermeulen presiding. Friends may consider the Michael Bell Memorial Quiz Bowl Fund at the Fremont High School for memorial contributions.
