IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Lee
Blackburn
July 12, 1966 – June 24, 2025
Michael Lee Blackburn, age 58, of Newaygo, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at home on June 24, 2025. Born on July 12, 1966, in Muscatine, Iowa, Michael was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend whose kind heart and quiet spirit touched those who really knew him.
Michael worked for the past 10 years as a saw operator at Bucher Hydraulics, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady presence. Before that he worked for many years as a carpenter.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in woodworking, golfing, grilling, camping, fishing, and working in his garden. He loved the NHRA and proudly raised his racing flags every year when the season began. He was also an avid dog lover, always happiest when surrounded by four-legged companions, especially his beloved pug, PJ.
More than anything, Michael cherished his granddaughter, Jasmine Rose Lavette. They loved taking PJ for walks and stopping at the park to play. Jasmine always had a way of talking Grandpa into buying her a new doll.
Although he kept more to himself in recent years, Michael had a fun-loving nature and a big heart. He was a man of his word, and a true friend to many. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marie Blackburn, and his nephew, Gerald Rich II. Michael is survived by his seven siblings: Elizabeth Blackburn; Rebecca Bradley (Dave York); Theresa Nichols (Ken Verch); Paul Blackburn (Sandy); his twin sister, Michelle Boyd (Doug Perrin); Denise Stamey; and Christine Grover. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, as well as the love of his life and dearest friend, Julie B. Limberg, and their granddaughter, Jasmine Rose Lavette.
In honor of Michael's love for animals, especially dogs, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Newaygo County Animal Shelter.
Details regarding a memorial service will be shared at a later date.
