Michael A. Dakin, age 61 of Newaygo, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at his home following a short illness and battle with cancer. Michael was born on August 29, 1961 in Fremont to Milton and Anna Laura (Schornagel) Dakin and graduated from high school in San Bernadino, California. Michael later moved back to the area and has been a resident of the Newaygo area since 2000. Michael met and later married Elizabeth "Lizzy" Leach on November 28, 2009 in Newaygo. Michael had been a truck driver for M.C. Van Kampen Trucking in Grand Rapids for several years until his illness forced him to retire in September 2021. Michael enjoyed riding motorcycles, wrenching on vehicles and motorcycles, and grilling out. Michael is survived by his wife, Lizzy of Newaygo; his father, Milton Dakin of White Cloud; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Anna L. Dakin on December 8, 2021.
