Michael E. Sabo Sr., age 74 of Fremont, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Mike was born on December 25, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois to Anthony and Theresa (Novath) Sabo and moved to the Fremont area at the age of 4. Mike married Patricia Walters on June 6, 1982 in Fremont. Mike started work as a foreman at the Brunswick Corporation in Muskegon and then went to National Fruit Company in the maintenance department and later retired from Gerber Products Company in 2002. After retirement, Mike began a career as the first manager of Recycling For Newaygo County in Fremont where he continued until 2009. Mike had enjoyed camping, attending air shows, enjoyed military history and bowling and was a retired member of the RWDSU Local #530 in Fremont. Mike was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Fremont. SURVIVORS : his wife, Patricia of Fremont; his children, Michael (Elena) Sabo Jr. of Fremont; Michelle (Cary) Chase of Hesperia; Theresa (Donald) Counterman of Holton; Jane (Lee) Fuller of Grant; his stepchildren, Linda Deuling of Fremont; Diane McGraw of Fremont; Roxanne (Bill) Kennedy of Fremont; Brenda Hardy of Freesoil; Penny (Scott) Spoelstra of Wayland; Jennifer (Jerry) Mitchell of Fremont; Garth (Heather) Walters of Ackworth, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many step grand and step great grandchildren; his sister, Betty Higgins of Grant; his brother, Anthony (Dell) Sabo of Grand Rapids; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Sabo in 2010; his father, Anthony Sabo; his step son, Nick McGraw; brother-in-law, Jim Higgins. VISITATION : Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 1-4pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Scripture Services at 3:45pm at the funeral home. MASS OF RESSURRECTION : Monday, April 11, 2011 at 10am at the All Saints Catholic Church. INTERMENT : Mt. Calvary Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Recycling of Newaygo County.
