Michael Lynn Smith was born on March 4, 1949 in Muskegon, Michigan. After spending his childhood in Fremont Michigan and later years around the map, he settled down in White Cloud, Michigan, where he lived on the White River for the last 32 years. He passed away on August 27, 2020 at home, surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Earl Smith, mother, Virginia Arlene Frodey, stepfather, Ray Frodey, and sister, Merrilee Reisling. He is survived by his daughter Jennifer (John) Borucki, granddaughter, Olivia Borucki; brother, Jack (Kim) Smith; brother-in-law, Chuck Reisling;, nieces, Kelsey (Stephen) Kellems and Kaely (John Bullard) Smith; nephews, Bob (Jill) Woolley, and Joe Woolley. Michael is a Vietnam Veteran who served as an Air Crew Chief for the United States Air Force, and was known for his love and knowledge for all things aviation. His many other passions included woodworking, hunting, golfing, fishing, gardening, and cooking. As a talented guitarist and music enthusiast, he once owned a music store, and spent years putting his woodworking skills to use to build guitars. Michael had countless friends and even more stories about their adventures together. He was a proud father and grandfather, and spent a great deal of time taking care of his relatives. He will be remembered for his resourcefulness, sarcastic wit, and as a friend who was always up for having a beer and catching up. Many people from all around will miss him dearly.
