With beauty, strength, grace, and an unshakeable faith, Michele Leslie Greer passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the age of 20. With her family by her side, she ascended to her final resting place in heaven. This ended her courageous and exemplary battle with cancer at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. Michele was born in Fremont on July 30, 1990 to Jim and Cathy (Crofoot) Greer. She graduated from Fremont High School, magna cum laude, in 2008. She went on to attend Central Michigan University. Michele was active in her high school orchestra and volleyball team. After a diagnosis of kidney cancer at age seventeen, Michele went through countless medical procedures and treatments bravely and with a bright light shining out from her heart. Her family, friends, and all those she encountered on a daily basis, will remember Michele for her easy smile, kind face, and infectious laugh. She was devoted to those who loved her, her family, and her boxer, Brady and kittens, MJ and JD. She enjoyed spending her time at the beach, shopping, and in the company of her many friends. Michele is survived by her mother, Cathy Greer of Grand Rapids; her father, Jim Greer of Fremont; her sisters, Tabatha Greer, and Chasity Greer of Grand Rapids; nephew, Jaden Greer; nieces, Natalie and Isabelle Johnson; maternal grandparents, Ben (Connie) Crofoot of Fremont; Richard (Sue) Jordan of Tennessee; and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Paul and Jackie Greer; her uncle, Ben Crofoot; and cousin, Bob Ebert. She also was an optical donor for Gift of Life. Visitation is scheduled for Monday, November 29, 2010 from 5-8 pm at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 1 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2 Michigan St. NE, Grand Rapids. Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. Memorial contributions can be made to Helen Devos Childrens Hospital Foundation for the Nephrology Department.
