Mike Hardy, age 70 of Grant, formerly of Grand Haven, passed away Monday, April 02, 2012 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont following a short illness. Mike was born on April 7, 1941 in Holland to Vincent and Gloria Hardy and moved to the Grant area in 2004 from Grand Haven. Mike had been a auto mechanic for many years and enjoyed following Nascar racing and drag racing. Mike was an avid Detroit Lions fan and has followed the Lions through the ups and down times. Mike is survived by his companion, Carole Schoenmaker of Grant; his children, Vince (Jayne) Hardy of Stanwood; Jamie Hardy of Grand Rapids; Chris (Sandy) Hardy of Comstock Park; Brian (Becky) Hardy of Grand Rapids; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his brothers, Jim Hardy of Fruitport; Richard (Sandy) Hardy of Zeeland; Scott (Deb) Hardy of Holland. Mike was preceded in death by his grandson, Sgt. Matthew Webber in 2006 from injuries received while serving in the Michigan National Guard in Iraq and by his brother, Dennis Hardy. Private memorial services will be held at a later date at the family home following cremation. Friends may consider the Wounded Warrior Project for memorial contributions in memory of Mike.
