Mildred G. Rice, age 80 of Baldwin, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2004 at her home following a short illness. She was born on April 10, 1924 in Muskegon to David and Beatrice Pearl (Bulson) Kurburski and later married Alvin M. Rice on January 7, 1977 in White Cloud. Mildred has been a resident of Baldwin since 1950 when she moved from Muskegon. Mildred had been the Director of the Hollister Senior Center in Lake County for 10 years until her retirement. She continued to serve the community by completing tax reports for the elderly in the Baldwin area for the past 10 years. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working in her garden. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Ann (Lawrence) Dunham of White Cloud; Rose Cynthia (Oris) Price of Middleville; Clare L. Libey of Chase, Michigan; David A. Ghent and special friend, Linda of Baldwin; her stepson, Randy Rice; 10 grandchildren, Tom Chew; Renee Chew; Aleica Seabrook; Kelley Sitter; Calvin Jackson; David Ghent Jr.; Randy Libey, Curt Libey; Craig Libey; Chris Libey; many great grandchildren; her special friend, Myrt Jensen. Mildred was preceded in death by 2 granddaughters, Kimberly Chew and Lisa Esklin. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 from the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel with Funeral Celebrant Curt A. Crandell presiding with interment in the East Hesperia Cemetery. Friends may consider the Hollister Senior Center of Lake County for memorial contributions in memory of Mildred.
