Milton E. Bement, age 78 of White Cloud, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at his home following a short illness. Milton was born on June 8, 1935 in Holland to Earl and Beulah (Brown) Bement and grew up in the Grandville area. Milton joined the United States Army where he served during the Korean War. Milton had been a supervisor at the General Motors Company in Grand Rapids, Plant 1 until his retirement in 1991. He met and later married Beatrice (Welch) Gelderblom on January 24, 1975 in Grand Rapids and together Milton and Beatrice built their home and moved to Diamond Lake in 1978. Milton enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, traveling, watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and had been a girls softball coach for several years. Milton is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beatrice of White Cloud; his sons, Michael Bement of Durand, Michigan; Jeffery Bement of Holt; Scott (Kim) Bement of White Cloud; his daughter, Chris Ann Bement of Holt; stepchildren, Paul (Debbie) Gelderblom of Charlevoix; Janet (Bob) Gelderblom of Grand Rapids; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; his sister, Edith (David) Thompson of White Cloud. Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Beulah; his infant brother, Gordon; sisters, Bonnie Schultz and Jean Brandt; four step daughters and one step great grandson. VISITATION : Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 4-7 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES with MILITARY RITES : Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : American Cancer Society or Heartland Hospice.
