Monte L. Timer Johnson, age 83 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Mercy General Health Partners in Muskegon following a short illness. Monte was born on August 24, 1927 to Emil and Sarah (Smith) Johnson on his parents farm West of Fremont and graduated from Fremont High School in 1947. After graduation, Monte continued to work on the family farm and eventually took over the operation of the family dairy farm from his father. He married Doris Carrier on December 7, 1947 in Brunswick and they spent their entire lives on the family farm raising their children, Dale and Connie. Monte loved to hunt and fish with his family and friends and truly enjoyed following his grandchildrens sporting events. Monte is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris; his children, Dale (Dianne) Johnson of Fremont; Connie (Ed) Manchip of Fremont; his granddaughter, Karen (Jeff) Frankhouser; grandsons, Scott (Rachel) Johnson; Ty (Brooke) Manchip; Kirk (Meredith) Manchip; great grandchildren, Reese Frankhouser; Cole and Kira Manchip; his sisters Carlene Balavitch of Pentwater; Pat (Craig) Strom of Worthington, Ohio; sister-in-laws, Mary Johnson and Kay Zeilish; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald, Earl Pete and Kenneth; sisters, Martha Cleo Grove and Edwinna Brookhouse. VISITATION : Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 11-1pm at the Fremont Wesleyan Church. MEMORIAL SERVICES : Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 1pm at the church. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Fremont Public Schools Athletic Department or Alzheimers Association.
