Nancy Eileen Carnes, age 83, of Fremont passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at her home. Nancy was born on December 15, 1938, in Battle Creek to Herbert Rodney and Edna Sophia (Horneberger) Bird and married Keith R. Carnes on October 4, 1959. Nancy had worked at Fisher's Big Wheel in Fremont until 1992 and then own and operated K & N Designs Embroidery until her retirement in 2015. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, hunting, fishing, bowling, birdwatching, and cooking. Nancy is survived by her children, Karyn (John) Stroven of Fremont and Kayla (Dale) Tanis of Fremont; grandchildren, Nikole (Mike) Spoelman, Shelbie McGarvey, Dave Hewitt, David McGarvey, Brandon Stroven, Michael (Melanie) Stroven, Matthew (Amanda) Stroven, and Krystle (Dan) Lastovich; great grandchildren, Tanner, Teagan, Sophia, Karson, Kaylin, Kinsley, Kalverie, Peyton, and Paige; special daughter, Darlene Murphy and her children, Hailey Robbins, Seth Behler, Brandon Foster, and Sofia; daughter-in-law, Elvia Carnes; brother Dwight (Sally) Bird of Bellevue; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith in 2003, and her son, Kevin Carnes in 2018. There will be a Celebration of Life for Nancy starting at 4 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Fremont Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
