Premo, Nanna Nanna A. Premo, age 99 of Fremont, passed away Monday, May 29, 2006 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Nanna was born on November 11, 1906 in Chicago and when her father passed away in 1912, she, her sister, Irene and mother moved to Solvesborg, Sweden. While in Sweden, she went to school and learned three languages and swam in the icy Baltic. Upon graduation her family returned to Chicago. She had several occupations during the depression era including one with the Burlington Railroad. She later met George Premo and they eloped to Indiana in 1933. Nanna resided in Chicago and Barrington, Illinois and later in Amasa, Michigan in Michigans Upper Pennisula, and Deerfield Beach in Florida before moving to Fremont in 1974. Nanna cared for her mother until her death in 1955. Nanna always relished getting together with the entire family and her love of swimming which she continued to her age of 97. She could be seen walking downtown to Fremont from her Stone Road apartment until the age of 96 and lived independently and took care of her own affairs until her 99th birthday. She is survived by her son, Dr. Wayne and daughter-in-law, Carol Premo of Fremont; her grandsons, David Premo of Washington, DC; Steve and his wife Tammy Premo of Holland and Steve and Tammys children and great grandchildren of Nanna, Alex and Morgan. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1976 and by her sister, Irene in 1990. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 2, 2006 from the Fremont United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Wood presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
