Neal Diekema, age 83, of Hesperia passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at his home in Hesperia. Neal was born on February 27, 1927, in Jenison to John and Dena (Holstege) Diekema and worked as a self employed tile layer. He married Betty Breuker-Long on July 27, 2000, and was a member of the Hesperia Presbyterian Church. Neal served his country as a Navy Veteran of WWII. Neal is survived by his wife, Betty of Hesperia; daughters, Judy Diekema of Laverne CA, and Cindy Diekema of Pomono, CA.; brother, Marv (Doris) Diekema of Deerfield Beach, FL.; sisters, Fran Diekema of Wyoming, Jean Holstege of Grandville, and Char Wever Westmaas and Marv Westmaas of Grandville; stepchildren, Marla (Scott) Weber of Burnip, MI, and Bob (Barb) Long of Holland; 4 step grandchildren; and a step great-grandson. Neal was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Hesperia Presbyterian Church at 12 noon. There will be a visitation and time to meet with the family at the church an hour prior to the service.
