Neil L. Kennedy, 87, of Shelby (formerly of Hesperia) went home to the Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Neil was born November 28, 1925, to Angus and Hattie Kennedy. On July 24, 1948, he married June Fairchild. Together they raised three children and built several homes. He was employed by Continental Motors for over 40 years, served overseas in the Army during WWII, and was a lifetime member of the VFW. Neil was a lifetime member and Past Master of Hesperia-Arcana Masonic Lodge #346 and member of the Hesperia Presbyterian Church.

Neil was preceded in death by his two sons, Dale and Joe. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, June; daughter, Sandy (Tom) Hiddema; daughters-in-law, Judy (Roger) Herin, Barb Kennedy, and Carole (Terry Brady) Kennedy; grandchildren, Melissa (Dwight) Fuehring, Jason (Kathleen) Kennedy, Jennifer (Rich) Copenhaver, Mark (Mary) Hiddema, Jeff (Lynn) Hiddema, Chad (Sally) Kennedy, Lisa Andritsis, Michael Scheffler, and Mark (Stephanie) Scheffler. Also surviving are eleven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Denhof; brother-in-law, Bob Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Leon Miller, Paul Miller, and Joe Kennedy; and sister-in-law, Donna Brown.

Funeral services for Neil will be on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at 11 AM at the Hesperia Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 7 PM with Masonic Memorial Service at 7 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home. For a more lasting memorial, contributions may be given to Harbor Hospice.
