Nellie H. Waters, age 95, formerly of Fremont, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at the Bortz Health Care Facility in Petoskey with the assistance of Pastor Ward Potts and family members. Bert and Elizabeth (McGowen) DeHaven gave birth to Nellie on April 7, 1906 in White Cloud, Michigan. She was united in marriage to M.L. Waters on June 11, 1924, and lived in Fremont until 1986. She then moved to Grand Rapids for a while and then moved to Petoskey. M.L. preceeded her in death on February 6, 1965. Their son, James, preceeded her in death on March 23, 1976. She was a life member of Eastern Star and the Fremont Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. SURVIVING She is survived by daughter, Marion (Charles) Ludlow of Kalamazoo; daughter, Kathleen (Robert) Simmons of Grand Rapids; son, Dr. Lee (Barbara) Waters of Charlevoix; daughter-in-law, Martha Waters of Fremont; 15 grandchildren, Chuck, Greg, Cindy, Cathy, Carol, James, Karen, Kay, Mary, Mark, Linda, Ray, Diane, Leigh Ann, and Mike; 22 great-grandchildren, Courtney, Chase, Brenton, James, Chas, Olivia, Nicole, Alana, Liegha, Nicholas, David, Tara, Ariele, ML, Samuel, Morris, Sarah, Jennifer, Brian, Rachel, Chrystal, and Bridget; and several nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL SERVICE Services were held on Thursday, March 21, 2002, at 2:00 pm at the Fremont Christian Church, Disciples of Christ with Rev. David Dickinson presiding. Interment is in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. Friends may consider the Fremont Christian Church Disciples of Christ or Bay Shore Presbyterian Church for memorial contributions.
