Nicholas J. Brookhouse, age 55 of Fremont , passed away unexpectedly on Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester , Massachusetts . Nick was born on September 11, 1947 in Fremont to the Honorable J.L. and Lois (Boeskool) Brookhouse and graduated from Fremont High School and Muskegon Business College . He has been a lifelong resident of the Fremont where he was a master electrician for over 30 years in the West Michigan area. He had been an electrician for 12 years at Gerber Products Company and many years at Johnson Electric in Grand Rapids . He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, mushrooming, and developed a passion for woodworking. He had also served as the co-chairman of the "Festival of Art" in Grand Rapids for the past 12 years. He is survived by his children, Jason (Kristin) Brookhouse of Fremont; Amber Brookhouse of Annapolis, Maryland; his mother, Lois Brookhouse of Fremont; his grandchildren, Taylor J. Brookhouse, Logan J.W. Brookhouse, Hannah R. Kempf all of Fremont; sisters, Melinda L. Fox of Charlotte, Michigan; Nancy J. Lever of Grand Rapids; Holly L. Frakes of Holt, Michigan; Betsy A. Crater of Grand Rapids; brothers, Jon R. Brookhouse of Chassell, Michigan; Anthony J. Brookhouse of Whitinsville, Massachusetts; many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Chadwick M. Brookhouse in 2002 and his father, the Honorable J.L. Brookhouse in 1990. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 8, 2003 from the First Christian Reformed Church in Fremont with Rev. Allen Petroelje of the First Christian Reformed Church presiding with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery .
