Obituary

Nora M. Parker, age 89 of Newaygo, passed away Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont. Nora was born on November 3, 1923 in Clarksville, Tennessee to Simon and Susie (Morrison) Harrison and married Oscar E. Parker on May 24, 1941 in Russell, Georgia after a 3 year courtship. Nora and Oscar had lived in the New Boston, Michigan area for 50 years and then retired to Tennessee and eventually moved to Newaygo in 2002. Nora had been a piano and organ teacher for many years and enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting. Nora also enjoyed vegetable gardening, music and had been active in the St. Pauls Lutheran Church in New Boston. Nora is survived by her husband of 72 years, Oscar of Newaygo; her son, Lanny (Bonnie) Parker of Flat Rock; son-in-law, Roger Palmiter of Newaygo; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth and her brother, Lloyd; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vickie L. Palmiter on December 11, 2002 and by 2 sisters and 4 brothers. VISITATION : Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 11-1 p.m. at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Tuesday at 1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Newaygo Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Heartland Hospice.
