Owen Dale Coffell Sr., age 74 of Holton, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at his home following a long illness. Owen was born on January 14, 1934 in Farwell, Michigan to Roy Alfred and Leora Vera (Blakley) Coffell and has been a longtime resident of the Holton area. Owen met and later married Avalon Huhnke on October 12, 1952 in Beulah, Michigan and enjoyed fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, listening to bluegrass music and had enjoyed riding motorcycles. Owen had worked at the Shaw Walker and later Knoll Corporation until his retirement at age 62 and then started work at Walmart in Fremont where he was a sales associate in the lawn and garden department for 10 years. Owen also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Owen is survived by his wife of 56 years, Avalon of Holton; his children, Owen (Marguerite) Coffell Jr. of Holton; Kimberly (Timothy) Barker of Rothbury; William Coffell of Holton; Michelle (Tony) Baker of Holton; Rebecca (Robert) Sluyter of Twin Lake; 12 grandchildren, Lisa (Jeff) Franks, Rachel Coffell, Owen Coffell III, Kelly (Kevin) Flowers, Sondra (Norm) Thompson, Tammy Barker, Angela (Matt) Cregg, Tony D. Baker, Ashley Coffell, Lacey J. Marvin, Alicia J. Marvin, Thomas Tommy Marvin, 12 great grandchildren, Brooklynne, Makayla, Britney, Riley, Zachery, Victoria, Mackenzie, Julia, Mason, Tony D.W., Trevyn, Aubrey Avalon; sisters, Lilas Thorton of Lansing; Lola Ricker of Florida; Audrey Gaskill of Farwell; his brothers, Bonnie BF (Laura) Coffell of Muskegon; Bernard (Judy) Coffell of Weidman, Michigan. He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters. VISITATION : Friday 3-5 & 7-9 at Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel.
