Patricia Ann (Holley) Gray, age 87 of Fremont, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont following an 11 year struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Pat was born on December 29, 1930 in Chicago to Dr. Zeland R. and Katherine D. (Stroven) Holley and grew up in Momence, Illinois and graduated from Momence High School in 1948. She later attended and graduated from MacMurry College in Jacksonville, Illinois in 1952 and then married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Gray on February 1, 1953 in Momence, Illinois. Pat then became an Army wife in June 1953 in which she packed and unpacked for 16 moves and raised 2 sons, Michael and Timothy, both born in military hospitals. In January 1976, when Ralph retired from active duty, Pat and Ralph moved from Washington, D.C. to Kalamazoo and then in 1985, made her final move to Garfield Township near Fremont in 1985. After assisting with the construction and establishment of their home on the edge of a hayfield in 1986, Pat devoted most of her energies to caring for her parents, Zeland and Katherine Holley in their final years and also had been active with the son Timothy's children who had moved to Comstock Park from an Army tour. In the years after, Pat took an interest in the Fremont Area Garden Club and the Newaygo County Women's Auxiliary Ag Extension Group. Pat is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ralph of Fremont; her sons, Michael A. Gray of Kennesaw, Georgia; Timothy R. (Carrie) Gray of Comstock Park; 6 grandchildren, Matthew A. Gray, Melissa G. (Marc) Robinson., Rebecca M. Gray, Stanley H. Gray, Kathleen H. Gray and Benjamin S. Gray; 2 great grandchildren, Irelyn Gray and Lincoln Robinson; her sister, Carolyn E. Beyerlein. A time of gathering to celebrate and remember Pat's life will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 with a visitation from 12-1pm and celebration of life services at 1pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont, Michigan.
