Patricia Frances Kent, age 89, of Grand Rapids, and formerly of White Cloud and Fremont, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Pilgrim Manor in Grand Rapids. Patricia was born in Newald, Wisconsin, on October 26, 1927, to David and Grace (Fercey) Apel. She attended the local 2 room schoolhouse, finishing 10th grade, and later completed high school receiving her diploma in 1963 from Laona High School. She went on to Rhinelander Technical School of Adult Training in Wisconsin, completing a two year degree in secretarial courses. Patricia married Russell Leroy Chrisman in 1943 and they were married for 17 years prior to his death in 1960. Patricia later married Leslie P. Kent on October 28, 1965. Patricia and Leslie celebrated 14 years of marriage prior to his death in 1979. Patricia and Leslie moved to White Cloud in 1966 where Patricia worked for Newaygo County at the Register of Deeds office. She and Leslie were active members of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud. In her retirement, she moved to Fremont and then to Grand Rapids to be closer to her family. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Judy G. (Timothy) Strickler and her 3 children, Melissa (Drew) Zemper, Heidi (Kris) Keller, and Scott Bleiler; her son, James (Elaine) Chrisman and his 6 children, Timothy (Anne) Chrisman, Russ (Pennee) Chrisman, Tammy (Scott) Stadler, Mike (Stacy) Chrisman, Mark (Melissa) Chrisman, and Rob Chrisman; son-in-law, Lee Visser, husband of her deceased daughter Cynthia S. Visser, and their 2 children, Marla (Kurt) Bergstedt, and Justin (Cate) Visser; and many great-grandchildren. Patricia was preceded by her husband, Russell L. Chrisman; her husband, Leslie P. Kent; and daughter, Cynthia S. Visser. Visitation will be held from 12-2 PM on Friday, January 27, 2017, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 2 PM at the Church in White Cloud with Father Luis F. Garcia officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in White Cloud. In lieu of flowers, Mass request envelopes will be available at the Church or donations may be given to Pilgrim Manor (2000 Leonard Street NE Grand Rapids, MI 40505) where Patricia lived for the last one and a half years.
