IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia (Pipe)
Mcfall
January 24, 1931 – February 4, 2024
Patricia (Pipe) McFall, 93, of Petoskey, Michigan died February 4, 2024.
Patricia was born on January 24, 1931 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of Mary (Hartingh) and William Pipe. She grew up in Sylvan Shores and graduated from Pontiac High School in 1948 where she was on the debate team.
Patricia attended Michigan Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) and was a member of Sigma Nu Phi sorority.
On August 26, 1950, in Pontiac, she married John Henry McFall Jr of Sylvan Lake.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, Mary and William Pipe, sister Mary Louise Faucher, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Maryalice (McFall) and James Marakas.
She was survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Ed Schaar of Fremont, Michigan and Sarah and Keith Salmon, of Middleville, Michigan, granddaughters Celia Ann Salmon and Claire Elizabeth Schaar and Tom Johnson, nieces Kathy, Tina and Sally and Angela and Sandra and their families, and the Babcock cousins, special daughter and son-in-law Michele Dainoviec and Bob Peterson.
Patricia was an astute business woman starting her career in the auto dealership industry before moving to Petoskey in 1967 where she and John owned and operated the Sundown Motel until 1983. In 1983, she became a real estate agent and actively served as an agent into her 80s.
Patricia served the community as a member of the Petoskey Innkeepers Association, Business and Professional Women's Association, and Zonta. She served on The Manna Project and on the board of directors for Camp Daggett for many years.
Patricia was an especially dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Some of her best moments were those spent with her family and friends at the farm, on the boat, and raising and showing their horses. She was instrumental in the beginning of the Petoskey High School Music Boosters when Sarah was in the band. In the winter months, she could be found driving their suburban loaded with skis and kids to Nub's Nob. Pat could be seen on the rail at the horse shows saying, "Smile!" as their daughters and their friends showed. She especially enjoyed family vacations on the boat, at Morgan horse shows, and visiting family in other states. She was especially proud of the accomplishments of her granddaughters – passing on her strength, giving spirit, and integrity has greatly influenced their lives.
The family sends their sincerest gratitude to the staff at The Cottages at Martin Lake for their love and care the last few years of Patricia's life.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at the Petoskey United Methodist Church on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM 1804 E Mitchell Rd, Petoskey, Michigan 49770 . The family will receive visitors from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service.
