Paul Caniff Jr., age 77 of Newaygo, passed away Monday, January 20, 2003 at his home. He was born on April 18, 1925 in Carmel , Illinois to Paul and Bertha (Wells) Canniff and married Katherine Cora on April 17, 1951 in Indiana . Paul has been a resident of the Newaygo County since 1979 when he retired and moved from Grand Rapids . He had been a buffer at the LESCO Company in Grand Rapids until his retirement in 1978 and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Katherine of Newaygo; step daughter, Mary (Gordon) Toft of Rockford; brothers, Richard (Sandra) Canniff of Newaygo; Delbert (Betty) Canniff of Sparta; his sister, Pauline Christensen of White Cloud; several nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Canniff in 1998 and a sister, Barbara Coykendall. Memorial graveside services were held in the Spring at the Big Prairie Everett Township Cemetery following cremation with funeral Celebrant Curt A. Crandell presiding.
