Paul Mills MacDonald, age 80 of Fremont, passed away Friday, January 1, 2010, at his home. Paul was born on August 26, 1929, in Fremont to Paul W. and Mary E. (Mills) MacDonald, and had been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area. Paul graduated from Fremont High School and later married Wanda Moore on December 23, 1947, in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2008. He had retired after 40 years of service to CSX Railroad as an Engineer. Paul was an active member in several clubs and organizations related to his love of firearms and history. He was a life member of the NRA, along with membership in the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Assn. and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Paul was a charter member of the New-Ocea Free Trappers, hosting many club shoots at his property in the early years, and had been a part of the Muskegon Seaway Gun Club for the several years. He cherished his children and grandchildren and actively supported them in their varied endeavors. Paul is survived by his children, Jeanine (Rick) Oswald of Muskegon; Timothy MacDonald and partner Shirley Harris of Fairbanks, Alaska; Denise MacDonald of Grand Rapids; Burton (Rebecca) MacDonald of Fremont; Michael (Jodi) MacDonald of Fremont; Suzanne (Dean) Maring of Fremont; Amy (Dean) Frees of Fremont; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Ina Jean Domke of Northville, MI. and Margo Holmes of Fremont. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Wanda, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Marcia MacDonald and by his grandsons, Demont MacDonald and Timothy Burton MacDonald. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of his life to be held at a later time. Friends may consider the Renucci Hospitality House at Spectrum Health Services in Grand Rapids or the Youth Shooting Program at the Seaway Gun Club for memorial contributions in memory of Paul.
